Wellenflug: A concept that is over a hundred years old
The Wellenflug ("Wave flight") has been on the Theresienwiese since 1973, but the first carousel with this concept celebrated its premiere at the Oktoberfest as early as 1919. The Wellenflug is a little different, because the tilting carousel makes a lap feel like an up and down ride. But the idea is the same: You just do a few laps in your swing and enjoy the somewhat fluttering feeling in your stomach, which increases as you go on as you travel.
The Wellenflug is not only a ride for the whole family, but also a popular photo motif. Similar to the Ferris wheel or the toboggan, it symbolizes the tradition of showman rides at the Oktoberfest.
