Königlicher Hirschgarten in Neuhausen-Nymphenburg
Great for kids: Watching real deer and even feeding them is possible in the eponymous Hirschgarten (deer garden). Around 30 fallow deer live in a large enclosure adjacent to the beer garden. There is also a playground with a climbing wall, water playground, children's carousel and plenty of room to run around.
Nice for parents: The Hirschgarten (see photo above) is Munich's largest beer garden with 8,000 seats - you can always find a seat with a view of the deer. The Maß comes at moderate prices from the wooden barrel and the snack you can of course bring yourself - or simply try out the fresh pretzels, Obatzen or Steckerlfisch of the beer garden.
How to get there: The best way to get there by public transport is to take the S-Bahn, Laim stop, or the 16 and 17 streetcars or buses on line 51 or 151.
The Michaeligarten in the Ostpark in Berg am Laim

Great for kids: There is a nice playground with slides and climbing walls for children from 3 to 14 years. On the lakeshore you can watch ducks, swans and geese and in July there's a Bavarian children's festival.
Nice for the parents: In the Michaeligarten, the beer benches extend to the lakeshore and you can enjoy your snack with a view of the water fountains, which are illuminated in the evening. The playground is centrally located, so you won't lose sight of the little ones. It is especially beautiful in the evening for the gorgeous sunset.
How to get there: Take the U5 to the Michaelibad stop, exit in the direction of Ostpark/Michaelibad and then take a short walk to the beer garden or take bus line 195, stop Michaelibad. Also easy to reach by car, free parking is available.
Beer garden at the Chinese Tower in the English Garden

Great for kids: A playground with a great climbing structure, swings, historical carousel, trees and lots of open space awaits your kids directly at the beer garden.
Nice for the parents: The beer garden at the Chinese Tower is quietly located in the middle of the park, no dangerous road nearby. Here you can sit relaxed in the shade of the trees with the smell of Steckerlfisch in your nose. In the evening and on weekends the brass band plays in the tower.

How to get there: By bike along the Isarhochufer in a southerly direction. By public transport: Tram line 25 in the direction of Grünwald.
Hirschau in the northern part of the English Garden
Great for kids: Children can look forward to a very beautifully designed and friendly adventure playground with a ropeway and a ship.
Nice for parents: Under the chestnut trees in the Hirschau there is a real beer garden atmosphere, plus good food (the roast pork is great) and live music on Thursdays and weekends when the weather is nice.
How to get there: U-Bahn Münchner Freiheit and then a short walk through the English Garden. The best way to get there, however, is by bike. There is free parking for cars.
The Waldwirtschaft in Großhesselohe

Great for kids: a boat swing, a small playground and a children's carousel provide entertainment and plenty of space to play. For a fee, the kids can also try out the trampolines.
Nice for the parents: The "Wawi", as the Waldwirtschaft is affectionately called by locals, is the favorite beer garden for many because it is a family beer garden. Idyllically located on the western side of the banks of the Isar River, the Wawi has become known as a jazz beer garden - a fresh mass in front of you and casual light jazz music in the background, a beer garden can hardly feel better.
How to get there: As at many large beer gardens, there is a shortage of parking spaces. That's why it's best to take the S-Bahn S7 in the direction of Wolfratshausen, get off at Großhesselohe and then walk for 10 minutes.
The Aumeister in the English Garden

Great for kids: Children can play on the huge playground or have fun swinging, on the children's carousel or shoveling in the sand. The little ones are always in view: There are extra parent seating areas by the playground.
Nice for the parents: On hot summer days you can always find a shady spot under the trees at the Aumeister. An ideal stopover on an extended bike tour through the English Garden.
How to get there: Take the U6 to Studentenstadt or preferably by bike, on weekends it is difficult to find a parking space by car.
Organic beer garden Gut Herrmannsdorf in the Munich outskirts
Great for kids: Your children fancy pure country life with a petting zoo and playground? The Herrmannsdorf estate has chickens, pigs, cows, a cheese dairy, a brewery and a farm store. On Saturdays at 10 a.m., children can visit the farm workshops with their parents.
Nice for the parents: casually sitting outside on the green meadow and feasting on organic delicacies that are not available in every beer garden: Porchetta and pastrami, accompanied by a fresh Schweinsbräu from the company's own brewery. The coffee afterwards also comes from our own coffee roastery. In addition, there is a jazz breakfast every 1st Sunday of the month until September. During the week until 6 p.m. and on Saturday until 2 p.m., the farm market is also open.
How to get there: The best way is by car, about 40 minutes southeast of the city center. Herrmannsdorf can be reached by public transport with the S4 stop Grafing Bahnhof and from there by bus 440.
Alte Villa in Utting on Lake Ammersee

Great for kids: First a steamboat ride, then a swim in the public bath next to the beer garden. Afterwards, there's something to eat and, finally, an ice cream to lick on the playground - that's what the perfect summer day for kids at the Ammersee could look like.
Nice for the parents: The old villa has a very nice flair at the lake, sitting in the shade of the hundred-year-old trees, with a view of the lake and jazzy or even Bavarian live music - what more could you want?
How to get there: Located 50 km west of Munich, the best way is by car via the Lindau Autobahn. By public transport: Take the SBahn S4 to Geltendorf and then the bus to Utting.
Beer garden Schlosswirtschaft Mariabrunn in the north of Munich

Nice for parents: The Schlosswirtschaft Mariabrunn is a beer garden away from the hustle and bustle of Munich. Here you can enjoy the home-brewed Mariabrunner Dunkel beer in the shade of the huge chestnut trees.
