The most beautiful trailer-café: Gans am Wasser

Why it's worth it: The Gans am Wasser (Goose on Water) at Westpark is simply the perfect place to go hang out, getb some sun and stare over Mollsee. The culinary selection is perfect for a spontaneous evening with friends. From coffee varieties, freshly squeezed juice and a fine selection of beer, to homemade chips and seitan vegetables kebab, there is something for everyone in the trailer Café.

The audience: You will find lots of millenials here, probably higher than in Munich pubs. However, the Gans am Wasser is still serene and casual. After all, you can sit on beer benches and deck chairs or simply laze around on the lawn.

Best time: One of the best experiences is watching the sunset. That's why work colleagues like to meet there for an after-work drink. In summer, the food truck is open till 10 pm, and 9pm on Sundays and public holidays.

Michaeligarten - Beer garden oasis with fountains

Why it's worth it: Since not everyone knows the Michaeligarten (advertisement) in Munich's Ramersdorf district, it's relaxed, idyllc and rarely crowded. The cosy beer garden is located directly on the shore of the Ostparksee, where swans and geese cackle. On the spacious sun terrace, you can drink your beer under chestnut trees, taste homemade Obazda and enjoy delicious food from the beer garden kitchen. You can also take a walk round the lovely park.

The audience: Many Munich residents have chosen Michaeligarten as their regular beer garden. Why it's worth it: The Seehaus (advertisement) is hard to beat in terms of location. It is in the middle of the English Garden, directly on the Kleinhesseloher See. This makes the view simply fantastic. The large terraces offer plenty of space for visitors. In the beer garden, you can have a fresh Maß (beer), chicken or Steckerlfisch (fish on a stick). In the evening, a cocktail in the lounge area with a wonderful view of the lake, ducks and pedal boats can be breath-taking. For culinary connoisseurs, the beer garden also offers upscale cuisine for those who enjoy classics in a modern way.

The audience: Here, locals meet tourists who want to get to know real Bavarian beer garden culture. Schwabing natives can also to be spotted here, as well as young athletes who want to treat themselves to something good after their park workout.

Best time: There is Happy Hour from Monday to Thursday between 5 p.m. and 7 p.m. You only pay 7,50 Euro for the big Maß beer!

Traditional cosiness on the Würm: Insel Mühle

Why it's worth it: The Inselmühle, located near the S-Bahn station Untermenzing and directly on the river Würm, is an insider's delight. You can enjoy your beer, delicious delicacies and varieties of grilled food under the trees and near the calmly rippling river. Between April and October, barbels gather in a small basin nearby. By the way, they aren't the Steckerlfisch served to you.

The audience: Here you'll find everyone - from connoisseurs of the Munich beer garden scene, to families who drop by after a bike tour and all those who simply like nature.

Best time: When the sun's rays shine through the dense fauna in the afternoon, and you just want to have a hearty snack. Also, if you just want a place children can play by the water or playground or you want to watch the barbels.
