Shopping in the Theatinerstraße

Due to its proximity to the pedestrian zone, plus many brand-names and luxury boutiques , Theatinerstraße has become popular but not only with fashion fans.
The shopping arcade "Fünf Höfe" gathers more than 60 stores and restaurants on 17,500 square meters. The sculpture-filled shopping center brings together international luxury designers and well-known Munich brands. The Fünf Höfe also houses a branch of the Munich bookstore Hugendubel.
The sights of Theatinerstraße
- The baroque Theatinerkirche (built from 1663 to 1748) at the northern end is one of Munich's most important churches - and gave the street its name
- The Theatinerhof is part of the former monastery complex of the Theatinerkirche and houses cafés and stores (closed until 2022 for general renovation).
- The Feldherrnhalle (built from 1841 to 1844) - a monument in honor of the Bavarian army
- The west facade of the Preysing-Palais (residential building from the 18th century in rococo style)
- Sculpture "Sphere" by artist Olafur Eliasson in the Fünf Höfe, an eight-ton steel spiral ball
- The Arco-Palais commercial building (built 1908-1910) at the southern end of Theatinerstrasse
Exhibition house: Kunsthalle

Since 2001, the Kunsthalle has been offering ever-changing exhibitions from prehistory and early history to the present in the Fünf Höfe on an area of around 1,200 square meters.
The exhibition house was designed by the architects Herzog & de Meuron and has gained an international reputation.
